The Real West

Invasions from wasps and juniper bugs, periodical electrical outages and inner-office dust storms, just a few of the challenges of grass roots organizing in the Craig Office. Read about our recent work and how you can Take Action at SaveVermillion.org

Northwest Colorado is one of the most isolated and rugged parts of both our State and our Country. It’s still the Real West where folks continue to live history. It was one of the last places in the state to become connected to the web and develop cell phone service (or at least they tell us we have Internet and cell service).

This poses challenges for the high tech organizing taken for granted in other parts of our State. But this isn’t entirely bad as it keep us on our toes. We develop tools, materials, techniques and strategies that are truly innovative in the profession of organizing such as our customized delivery of materials to activists. We make use of the “Sage Brush” network, an informal community communication system of calls and coffee table meetings. The extra effort is worthwhile to have the opportunity to live and work in this part of Colorado. This is one of the last truly beautiful places on earth where wild life out numbers people and a person can find places to wander for without encountering another sole. Take a look for yourselves.
